Before you start applying makeup you need to prepare your face, especially if you have a lot of masculine facial appearance.

1 week or earlier (Optional):
If you really want to prepare way ahead and make a difference before you decide to dress up, consider this:
1. Drink lots of water every day (at least 8 cups)
2. Wash your face every morning and night
3. Apply toner after washing your face if you have any
4. Apply lotion after the toner
5. Eat food with vitamin E in moderation like seeds, nuts, broccoli, and asparagus
6. Have a facial done when possible (highly optional)

1-2 days before (Optional):
If you really want to pull off a really smooth face before dressing up, you might want to consider plucking your facial hair. This will result in a more desirable effect than shaving because you remove the roots of the hair. You'll also require a lot less makeup to cover up the beard shadow and less makeup usually means a more natural look. The biggest drawback in this process is that it is very time consuming and will be a bit painful at times. Also be warned ahead of time that there is a possibility of getting ingrown hair, slim but possible. Please wash your face and apply lotion after you pluck your face.

Immediately before applying makeup:
1. Pluck any stray eyebrow hair (this is not to say that you should pluck it thin, you're just cleaning up the edges. If you really want to pluck it thin, feel free to do so. Cleaning out the stray hairs will at least allow you to look less masculine and you won't have to explain yourself after dressing up).
2. Shave facial hair if you haven't plucked them yet. Shave even if you pluck because you'll want to shave off any facial hair that you missed. Consider using a new blade if you really want a fine shave.
3. Wash face, apply toner, and apply lotion

You should now be prepared to apply makeup.
