Alright, I reset this blog, because I didn't like my previous entries.
My way into the world of crossplay was actually pretty ordinary.
I did my first cosplay about five years ago. It was a very easy thing, and I don't thing anyone knew that I dressed up as Shinji Ikari from Evangelion. However, this was my first cosplay ever. I wouldn't say I'm proud of it, as I know that some of my friends had more "complicated" first cosplays. (One of my best friends did a great job on Temari from Naruto)
My second one was sewn by my grandmother. I felt great as Zero from Pilot Candidate/The Candidate for Goddess, also my boot covers were a mess. That was the reason why I decided to buy boots if necessary.
After this, there were a few not very spectacular costumes, to name some: Ichigo Kurosaki, Sindbad (from KKJ), Kurz Weber.
So on my first convention, I met a boy, who was famous for crossplaying. I was kind of fascinated, and I imagined, how it would be to crossplay. I dropped that thought, because I felt kind of guilty. It took another two years to not feel ashamed about this thought anymore.
In 2007, I met my girlfriend. I don't overdo when I say we're a perfect match. However, On new Year's Eve 2007, she totally surprised me. I had a huge wallpaper in my room, depicting Rikku from Final Fantasy X-2. I said that I totally like her (which is still true), and that I like her clothes from Final Fantasy X even more, though they don't show much skin.
My girlfriend looked at me and asked in a very sincere voice: "What about you cosplaying Rikku?"
I was schocked, and refused spontaneously. After a few days, both of us forgot this incident.
However after this event, I reflected my considerations, and I made up my mind, that I would give it a try. That was back in 2008. I asked my girlfriend what she thinks about me cosplaying Sailor Uranus. You guess: She had never laughed that hard ever again.
But she said, if I really want to do it, I would have to pass a test first.
So we made a bet: If I dare cosplaying Merle from Escaflowne, I could do whatever I want to do. If not, I would have to buy her buns for four weeks.
You're on!
Okay, I felt like participating in the TV show "Wanna bet?", but hey, I had a fair chance.
I have to admin that I missed it, however, we both agreed that our bet would end without any consequences. But she still stood by her opinion:
If I want to cosplay a girl, I am to feel free to do so.
I feel great!
