How's this for customer service?

So I took the main part of my Sakura Haruno costume to the local "seamstress" earlier today, agony is the best way to describe it.

I went in, and up to the counter, and explained that I've got a fancy dress costume that needs altering. The short, irritable woman I was dealing with immediately had a concerned look on her face as she asked to see the item. I took out the costume, I may as well have handed her a dead baby or something, such was the look of horror and disgust at what I'd shown her.
She asked what needed to be altered so I explained that the waist was a few inches too big and needed to be taken in; what I didn't expect was to be given a short list of reasons why it couldn't be done and how I should just pin it back!
Remaining as calm as I could manage (my patience already well tested at this point, I was close to telling her that I'll just take my business to someone who'll happily do the job they would be paid to do!) I explained that there was no immediate rush for the costume to be altered and asked if the head seamstress would have a look at it and tell me what she thinks. This resulted in the woman reluctantly taking my details and the costume, explaining to me that it would be sent off on Friday and be returned on Tuesday, and with that I thanked her and left.

This blog was not intended to be this interesting, it was supposed to be "costume's at the seamstress's, being altered. Can't wait for it to fit properly! Squeeee! etc..." but it's been transformed into a customer service based rant due to one irritating woman. I've worked in retail enough to know that you do everything possible to meet the customer's needs. My request was a little out of the ordinary and required a little more work than the average alteration, I'd have been pleased to have something different.
If I were the seamstress (or even the woman who served me) I would have explained that it would be more work than it lets on (which, theoretically, means it may cost a little more for the extra work) but I'd be happy to do it. I cannot believe I was made to feel so angry and so bad about asking to have an item of clothing altered. GRRR!

In more upbeat news, my new found love of crossplay is growing. I'm already plotting my next costume, even though I don't have an event to wear it to! It's more daring than the Sakura costume (I think slightly more feminine too) and I'll reveal it if I actually do it and find a event for it. I won't announce it as it's only in research and planning right now.
