Crossplay.net Forums: How to Do a Good Job in Crossplay? - Crossplay.net Forums

Because of following simpler rules, cosplay gains a sharply increasing popularity among different aged people. Meanwhile, crossplay also becomes a hot theme. Actually speaking, you can imitate any cartoon character as long as you want. But to do well in crossplay, here are some crucial tips to protect you from being derided and help you look much better.

Tip 1: have you prepared a corset for you?

Girls should especially pay attention to this. While crossplaying a male character with chest open, you will need a corset. After using it, you only need to wear a flesh-colored vest. Corset can be found in many underwear shops, which doesn’t cost you a lot. You are strongly recommended to choose a simple and smooth style, rather than a beautifully lace-decorated pattern that’s expensive and unpractical. A simple corset feels like a wide rubber band. But a complicated style often has several plastic or metal straps on the side, which may be ideal for bound the waist. But while being used to cover the chest, it will strangle you :D.

Tip 2: make sure to wear pure cotton underwear.

Whatever character you plan to crossplay, remember to wear underwear that’s made from pure cotton. In this case, you won’t be sneakily shot by an infrared camera. This especially makes sense when you plan to cosplay a role with a mini skirt or a dress with a high split.

Tip 3: how many make-up tips have you known?

Temperament: cosmetics in which color to be used depends on your temperament. For sure, different people have diverse temperaments and features. Someone seems pure and cute. Someone seems graceful and elegant. There are also people who look great with dark and bewitching hues. Make sure to make a right judge on your own qualities. Cute girls often look stunning with colors in the pink series and should avoid dark colors. Girls seeming graceful can choose coffee or dark gray eye shadow. Then, hot red ideally fits girls with seductively charming styles.

Age: even though crossplay may require you to look rather different with your original appearance, you can’t neglect your age while making up. Young girls can use pink lipstick. Older girls are recommended with darker or brilliant colors because these hues impress people by mature appeal.

Complexion: three aspects should be considered here: foundation make-up, blusher and lipstick. Color of the foundation make-up should look similar or a little shallower than your skin tone. Don’t choose a too white or dark color that has obvious difference with your complexion. Second, referring to blusher, if your complexion is white, just choose pink. For people with darker skin tones, coffee will make them seem rather healthy. Blusher having a little silver color inside can be used to accent the forehead. Finally, light colored lipstick can make the mouth seem larger. Girls with black skin tone often don’t look great with light or silver lipstick. If your complexion is white, congratulations, because you can use almost any color.

Costumes: it’s of great importance to make sure your makeup color looks harmonious with the hue on your costume. If your clothes are pink, just choose simply elegant colors while making up. If your clothes are white, black or gray, just choose brilliant or darker colors without silver. If there are blue or green decorative patterns on your costume, you can choose colors in similar series.

To be honest, these tips also make sense when you do usual cosplay. While planning a crossplay, just make sure you have well protected yourself from some dangerous lens. Good luck.
