fooly jacket flcl haruhara crossplay help ideas cooly haruko advice
Hello everyone!  I am very new to blogging, thank you for your patience.  I am in the pre-production phase of my second crossplay.  This will be a male -> female crossplay.  I am going forth in going as Haruko Haruhara from Fooly Cooly.  I just need help with the red jacket/tunic.  I have everything else as for other wardrobe/props are concerned.  While doing intense research, I have come across this blog site, hoping some of you may generously pitch in and put me in the right direction.

Now, I'd like to use polyester/cotton as the primary material because it is light, breathable and easy to sew with.  However, I have little to no experience with sewing for cosplay/crossplay.  The only experience I have with stitching are repairing clothes and the one time I've made a skirt for my first Tifa crossplay (traditional game version).  I turned out to be much more convincing than I'd expected my closet cosplay to be.  Well, at least to other people anyway :P  Since I've done this once before with excellent results, I am very confident that I can pull off Haruko very easily.  Although, this crossplay is much milder compared to my last one.

Moving on, I have a bit of an idea of how to stitch the jacket.  But as for making the proper incisions to the material, I am completely lost.  I'd like to slightly modify it into a vest, dress vest or fleece vest.  The shoulders would still flare out a bit, but no flare to the waist/hip region though, nearly akin to Michael Jackson's thriller jacket w/ the sleeves cut off, minus a few details... Well, I think you get the idea.  In addition, I am thinking of operating on a $20-$30 budget for the jacket...

And from there, that's where the tracks of my train of thought ends.  Can anyone else help me and offer me any "advice"? lolz.. The Pillows are awesome!    Thank you and hope to hear from you all soon!
